Karthik Anitha - 2009 - Movie Review

Producer: Shankar V. Rajan
Director: Sri Hari
Cast: Rathan, Manju, Kota Srinivasan Rao, Rajan P. Dev etc.
Music: Jack Anand
Cinematography: K.G. Shankar, A. Vel Murugan

This weekend seems to be bounded with love stories on the screens. If Ananda Thandavam is sincerely catering to the multiplex audiences, here’s ‘Karthik Anitha’ that will blissfully capture the interests of B and C Centres. The storyline is so simple without any complications and gradually has no particular romance sequences of kisses and lip locks. Director Sri Hari comes up with a decent family entertainer that will make the audiences feel it’s a worth watching once.

Karthik (Rathan) and Anitha (Manju) are close pals as they’re family friends right from their childhood. Their families are residing in neighboring houses in the same apartments. Well, Karthik and Anitha keep playing pranks on each other and don’t express their love till the end. Certainly, death of Karthik’s father (Kota Srinivasa Rao) leaves the young lad more desperate. Meanwhile, a smart evil-kind of guy from arrives and seeks the parent’s permission for getting married with Manju… Finally, there’s a convincing end for the young couple who get united with the elderly people’s blessings.

Rathan and Manju have done a decent job while Kota Srinivasa Rao steals the show with a commendable performance. After a long sabbatical gap, Rajan makes a good comeback on decent show. Dev’s antagonism could’ve been better.

On the technical aspects, both the cinematographers fail to capture the shots with finesse. For this sort of film with a good storyline, the technical aspects should be more better convincingly. Ditto to Jack Anand on his musical score.

If the film was made stylishly, the verdict would have been ‘Excellent’…. However, Director Sri Hari proves of his adeptness on penning a good script and fine narration.

As a whole, it’s a film worth watching for the pennies you’ve paid.

Verdict: Worth Watching Once…
