Tempe town gave harrowing time to many people living in the vicinity. The water submerged a small part of the road nearby affecting traffic and making movement difficult.
Witnesses say they say cars being swept aside by the surging water that was gushing from the dam.
But the officials are being appreciated by the quick steps they took in dealing with the eventuality. Many residents say that the drill undertaken earlier this year helped the mater a lot.
A reader says “We were on the 7th Street bridge when the fist waves hit after the dam broke. Two cars in front of us were swept away. We were lucky enough to make it back. Of course, the Republic isn’t going to tell you about that, they’re in cahoots with all the government authorities to keep the public misinformed.”
Despite being a man made lake it is very huge and an AP report suugest that it can hold up to one billion gallons of water.
