Mimoh Chakraborty’s life has come a full circle. It’s no secret that this fresh face has been roped in to play the lead in Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted, touted as India’s first digital 3D horror film.
But what few are aware of is the fact that the actor was supposed to be debuting in Vikram’s venture. “Vikram Sir was supposed to launch me. For some reason, it never happened that way. Life has now come a full circle. I will finally get to work with a director of his repute,” Mimoh couldn’t have been more elated.
Talking about how it all fell in place, Mimoh elaborates, “I was knocking on every producer and director’s door. I went to Vikram Sir too with my photographs. I still remember how we met in the afternoon and by evening, he SMSed me saying, ‘U are on’. When I asked him what that meant, he explained that I was on board for his next film.”
While the cast is yet to be finalised, buzz is that Mimoh will be paired opposite newcomer Tia Bajpai. Mincing no words about the technical expertise of “Vikram Sir”, Mimoh asserts, “The
audience will be in for a treat, for sure. I have heard the script three times and each time I felt scared. So imagine what’s going to happen when the amplified version of it hits the big screen.”
Mimoh’s confidence in his director comes forth when he continues, “I trust him blindly. He is an amazing technician. Once I was on board, I never asked him what it was for. Forget about giving me a chance, his meeting me was a big thing.”
And the “big” magic is supposed to rest on not just the director but also the team of technicians from Canada, who were responsible for Resident Evil.
Mimoh, who essays a character called Rehan in Haunted, is positive about giving his cent per cent once he starts shooting in July. “Everyone expects a film to be a success. But finally, it rests on the audience,” he says.
As for his other projects, talks are on with Ashuu Trikha for a cop drama. “He wants me to play one of the characters in this film. My dad just might be a part of this project. But nothing has been finalised as yet,” he says.
Considering that father and son have come together for the first time in Gaurav Pandey’s Bengali film, Spaghetti 24/7, one wonders if there are more such offers in his kitty. The actor clarifies, “There’s nothing as yet. But I would love to dabble in Bengali films. In fact, why only Bengali? I love cinema and I would love to do good work in any language. Spoken like a true actor, eh?
