Gaming and Animation Offers Jobs For the Students


Set to grow by 10 percent annually over the next two years, the global animation and gaming industry offered tremendous opportunities for students to conceptualize and create animation to create a name for the country in creative fields, said President Pratibha Patil on Friday.

Patil said that the industry is expected to touch $ 170 billion over the next two years, and "as a result, the Indian animation and gaming sector, deriving revenue from international production houses and game development companies on the verge of significant growth."

The president spoke at the dedication of DSK Supinfocom campus in Hadapsar, on the outskirts of Pune, created in collaboration with Supinfocom, France.

Patil expressed happiness that the DSK group had not forgotten its social commitments in spite of his business avatar.

She appealed to the group head, DS Kulkarni, focusing on fundamental issues such as bringing more rain-fed land in rural areas under irrigation and promotion of renewable energy such as solar, wind and hydro power by reducing the cost of these technologies.

The French ambassador to India, Francois Richier, said creation of the beautiful campus of 20 acres in less than two years can only be a product of men and women of vision.

He said that digital technology and education are both fields to increase cooperation between France and India.

Kulkarni said he had risen from a humble background and assured that he would pursue throughout his life to make things better for young people in the country.

Situated on a lush green 20-acre plot, DSK Supinfocom is India's first and only international campus offering professional courses in the fields of animation, gaming and industrial design.

It is a joint venture between Pune-based DSK Group and Chamber of Commerce & Industry of North of France, with the latter controls academics through a full European team of trainers.
